6 miles long...that is crazy. unless God and Jesus were on a 2x4 set with Moses MCn' would i stand in a long line like that and even then i'd be trying to sneak in...ha |

Re: Time of Obama's speach tonight???
Seriously i know my mom is at home crying right now. I am a super cynic in wat's popular, but u know sometimes u have to say "s**t this is just right" and i have with Obama.
"We can't make this big election about small things"
"In Washington we call it 'ownership', but it means 'you're on your own'."
"ENOUGH!"
"don't tell me that this is not a story of an American" (him talking about his grandpa, grandma, mom)
btw the best political analyst is CHUCK TODD. I love Rachel Maddow also. I actually like Chris Matthews but i know he pisses people off cause he wears it on his sleve. Worst is Sean Hannity, Andrea Mitchell, David Gregory and Lou Dobbs |

One of the most amazing examples of the freedom of assembly I have ever seen.
Take politics to the people. Invite them to participate and they will. I hope this sets a precedent for future conventions. |

Re: Time of Obama's speach tonight???
I don't think politics have been this exciting since RFK.
Obama killed it last nite, Hillary who? I don't even remember, lol.
Enough quips though.
Wow, just wow. Like Rodon said - I can't imagine anything remotely uplifting, unifying, and electrifying coming out of John McCain's mouth ever.
Did you hear Pat Buchanan gushing about Obama's speech last nite on CNN (or was it MSNBC?). I thought he was totally going to dismiss the speech - but he couldn't stop talking about how great it was.
I can't wait to see the Republican National Convention and McCain's speech now - how do you follow Obama???? |

Re: Time of Obama's speach tonight???
"Barack Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention was seen by more than 38 million people.
Nielsen Media Research said more people watched Obama speak than watched the Olympics opening ceremony in Beijing, the final "American Idol" or the Academy Awards this year. Obama talked before a live audience of 80,000 people in Denver.
That doesn't count the C-SPAN and PBS viewers." |

Re: Time of Obama's speach tonight???
btw McCain's pick is interesting. She has one sole job for him, siphon Hillary votes from Barack, but i don't think this will work for two reasons. First is on principle which are the issues and she is to the right of McCain on many issues. 2ndly i think that this will infuriate Hillary because at heart she is still a politician and i think she and her die-hards wanted her to be the 1st woman to break any barrier (President/VP). 3rdly i think this legitimately allows one to question the age issue for McCain because god-forbid (and i mean this) something happen to him she will be the President. Zero and i mean ZERO experience on foriegn affairs (like NONE). That to me is scary. At least Obama sat on the Foreign Relations Commision and his #2 is probably the most experienced in foreign affairs in Washington. I also think it is a slap to the face of actual hard working and seasoned Republican Women who could've been nominated over her (qualifications). Dick Cheney has revolutionized (for better or worse) the position of VP. The VP now is pretty much as powerful as the President in certain aspects. I respect what she has done for Alaska but Alaska is very different politics then the lower 48 states.
I just read too that during the primaries she called Clinton out saying she would like to vote for a woman but she (Clinton) was "whining". Also apparently she (Palin) is being investigated on wrongful termination of a government official in Alaska. She does have a high approval rating and is a shake up to the Republican party, but i honestly don't get this pick. Either way, game on... |

Re: Time of Obama's speach tonight???
^^ yeah it was on some Wire s**t because she wanted the public safety commissioner to step down and instead offered him a position as executive director of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. he declined. all because i guess he wouldnt fire a state trooper who happened to be going thru a divorce with her sister
LOL
perfect choice. desperation move that is going to big time backfire. you cant say obama has no experience and bring in a woman who's never dealt with towns of over *edit* 9,000 people... this would be the successor to mccain? wow.
mccain is a lot more liable to get sick and die (considering his health and age) than obama... and id rather have biden in office than some pro-lifer who's also a hunter.

Yeeeeeah ... she terminated someone because they wouldn't fire her ex-brother in law from the state police who was in a custody battle with her sister ..... NICE
McCain's intentions are paper thin but no Hilary supporters aren't going to vote for someone who was just elected in 2006 and is anti-gay + anti-choice just because she is a woman. |

Re: Time of Obama's speach tonight???
I just hope the day before the election Obama stresses that we (people) need to get up off our asses and vote...as in no "ROCK THE VOTE" but then not vote, not all this hoopla with nothing to show. To actually get up, leave work, go at ur lunch, stand in line, get in that booth and vote. Over 20+ Months of work comes down to one moment for us individually...pulling that lever/punching that ballot. |

Re: Time of Obama's speach tonight???
I am truly baffled at McCain's VP selection.
I also think it will backfire on him because it comes off as very disingenuine / paper thin ulterior motive of selecting a woman for the sake of selecting a woman - not because she is the most qualified person for the job or fits a specific set of criteria thats rounds out the nomination and strengthens his perimeter weaknesses.
It comes off as very "look at me, look at me --- I need media coverage too!"
Like others have mentioned - what if something were too happen to McCain while in office - there are very legitimate concerns that Palin would not be fit for office in terms of experience in domestic and foreign affairs...
Wow. I am straight baffled by this "hail mary pass" .... |
