Lakers getting Ron Artest
ohh man next season is going to be comical. Artest is one of the best characters (as in hilarious) in the league and one of the toughest guys in the league. crazy ass lineup we'll have (super sad to see ariza go). we actually will be a defensive team:
fisher + kobe + artest + pau + bynum
can't wait to see the hairstyles and technicals |

i'm mixed but on paper we improve. cant hate on that. seems like the organization is shooting for the 3peat. 2 more years of phil, uber dominant kobe and some ron ron. i'm down. |

Ariza gets nothing but love from me, the rumors I've heard was that his agent was the one pulling these strings. foolish plans, its a win win for him and the team. but on paper minus the attitude, artest is a better defender and shooter. Would love to have Ariza as part of the future, but the next 2-3 years look golden. |

this might be the first Laker jersey I buy! I love Artest as a player, but i like him because he brings spice to the game. Sure...he may have beaten up some fans, and countless other things, but hes not boring....
Pro basketball is entertainment and Artest is an entertainer. He makes it interesting to watch on a different level then just watching the basketball game.
Do i think its a good pickup for the lakers, probably not. Kobe and Artest will either get along like best friends, or worst friends i feel. Im sure Kobe had something to say in this as well though...i dont see the Laker camp making a move like this with out consulting their franchise player. |

Confirmed! Artest in L.A.! I like this move alot. Artest is a huge addition to our lineup on both sides of the floor. Bummed to see Ariza go but this is def for the best. Man I cant wait till October! |

Currently, I am not so happy with the decision. Never been a fan or artest at all. but then again ariza's agent had a role in this, money talks.. Now the lakers can still sign L.O. But damn its hard to see ariza go. |

I am not worried about the dynamic between Kobe and Artest.
Artest really respects Kobe, and Kobe respects anyone who puts in work, is competitive, and has a good work ethic (this is why he loves Fisher even if he isn't playing well). Apparently the two are friends, and Artest has very long standing ties to Lamar as the two grew up in Brooklyn and played on the same team as kids.
Like most of you, I am really really sad to see Ariza go, I LOVE A-THREE-ZA (especially being a UCLA fan), but damn ---- the Lakers have cap space issues, and Ariza's agent really didn't want to play ball with working things out so they could bring back him and Odom. The had to use their mid-level exception, and if Ariza was "too insulted" to take it, they knew they could find someone with equal to or greater talent who would take the mid level. Ariza's agent already raked the Lakers over the coals with the Bynum contract (he is Bynum's agent as well) and I'm sure the Lakers were not about to go through that again.
So, sad to see Ariza go, but if there was anyone I would want to replace him, it would be Artest. He is a better player than Ariza, let's cross our fingers that he is also a good fit. Our defense just got a lot better, and so did our toughness on the court.
Take this as a lesson Trevor, don't let your agent do ALL your talking. |

exactly. he getting that same amount if not a little more from the rockets and thats not even a title contending team with ming out,ron out and they thinking of releasing t-mac . i would be surprise if they even make it to the playoff.......the rockets will battle tha clippers for the 8th spot in the west....
poor ariza from a champion team to a team thats on the rebuilding stages.... his agent f**ked up..... |

thats a real good pick up, but the Lakers need to step up and resign Odom I don't think they have a shot at a repeat if they don't resign LO... There are just to many good things he brings to the table to not resign him... who else in the nba can get caught smoking herb twice in there career and still be as well liked as Odom? |
